Tour informationThis tour is timed to coincide with the annual Cherry Blossom festivals that happen all over Japan in spring each year. When I first visited during this season I was expecting it to be something put on for visitors but was pleasantly surprised to find it was all about the locals. Japanese people love to celebrate festivals and this is one of the big ones! Cherry blossoms grow widely in everywhere in Japan and are truly memorable at this time of the year. We start with 3 nights in Tokyo before flying to Hiroshima and then making our way by coach and bullet train north to visit Kyoto, Nagoya, Lake Kawaguchi, Mt Fuji and Nikko. I have included what I regard as the best of the typical Japanese experiences on this tour as well as a few hidden gems.
The accomodation will be a highlight ranging from modern well located big city hotels to tradional Ryokans. The tour is organised by my good friend Hanake Ide and will be guided by Ms Mai (hopefully!) who has guided us on previous tours. Fitness levelThis tour requires walking for an up to an hour sometimes on uneven ground and some steps. Walking in gardens and in historical areas is part of the tour. An ability to handle own luggage is essential. A moderate to high level of mobility is required. A range of meals will be part of the tour including of course Japanese cuisine.
